SQA

A final farewell!

A final farewell, maybe…

Our Fashion and Textiles subject specialist Linda Adam has finally put away her sewing kit and turned off the machine…or has she?! She’s tried twice before to give up working for SQA!!

Linda has been involved with SQA over many years, stretching back to the 1990’s. She started off marking Standard Grade question papers then progressed on to writing them for Intermediate 2 level. It wasn’t long before she became the Principal Assessor for the Intermediate 2 Home Economics courses, which back in the day had 3 different contexts, Fashion, Health and Lifestyle.

On retiring early from her day job, a principal teacher of Home Economics at Cardinal Newman High School, she also gave up her PA role, only to then be invited to work full time within the Curriculum for Excellence development team at SQA. When that work was completed, and Linda ‘retired’ again, we managed to entice her back to work as our Subject Implementation Manager for Fashion and Textile Technology, a role that she has carried out over the past 3 years for us.

Linda’s passion and knowledge for the subject is renowned and it was apt that her last day with us was spent delivering at the Understanding Standards event we held for the subject last week, sharing best practice with our delegates from across the country.

Linda will be sorely missed, and we wish her all the best with her 3rd attempt at retirement!
