NC/NPA Computer Games Development review

We’ve recently been given the green light to commence the review of the National Certificates and National Progression Awards in Computer Games Development. I’ve previously mentioned that these awards, among others, were “scoped” to identify the extent of change needed. As a result, we have agreed the following changes to the awards:

  • NPAs: no change to structure; all units updated; all assessments updated.
  • NCs: possible change to structure, development of new/revised units (and assessments).

The NPAs have been a big success, particularly in schools where almost 2,000 pupils took the awards last session. The NC has been less popular in colleges but still with a reasonable uptake. So, both awards will be refreshed to better reflect contemporary standards and technologies, and also address the usual issue of over-assessment.

We aim to have the revised awards available to centres from April 2018. Please contact Emma for more information or to volunteer for the Qualification Development Team.
