Reviews of NPAs and NC

I’ve spent the last couple of days reviewing the scoping reports for a number of NPAs and an NC. We commenced this work a couple of months ago and things have ran to schedule.

The purpose of a scoping report is to outline the likely changes needed to an award. Scoping is the pre-cursor to development. We commissioned a report for each of the following awards.

  • NPA Software Development (SCQF Level 4)
  • NPA Digital Media Basics (SCQF Level 4)
  • NPA Digital Media Editing (SCQF Level 5)
  • NPA Web Design Fundamentals (SCQF Level 5).
  • NPA Computer Games Development (SCQF Levels 4, 5 and 6)
  • NC Computer Games Development (SCQF Levels 5 and 6).

Having read the reports, I’ve made the following recommendations.

  1. 1. NPA Software Development (Level 4): Major change and creation of a new Level 5 award.
  2. 2. NPA Digital Media Basics (Level 4): Minor change – update each of the component units and assessments.
  3. 3. NPA Digital Media Editing (Level 5): Major change – update the units and assessments and introduce an optional unit.
  4. 4. NPA Web Design Fundamentals (Level 5): Minor change – revise some component units and assessments.
  5. 5. NPA Computer Games Development (Levels 4, 5 and 6): Minor change – update all component units and assessments.
  6. 6. NC Computer Games Development (Levels 4, 5 and 6): Minor change – update a few units and assessments.

This now has to be approved by the Business Case Group but all going well I expect to commence these developments in the near future. I hope to have all of these developments complete by early 2018 and available to centres from Spring 2018.

Please contact Emma if you want to know more about any of these awards or our planned changes.
