Mental Health and Wellbeing Awards – Understanding Standards
Hi everyone,
Hope you’re all well.
We are planning an understanding standards webinar programme for the beginning of 2021 and given current circumstances we wanted to get your input regarding what should be included. We are also looking to get the thoughts of those who are considering delivering the award to try and encourage as many people as possible to deliver the award – it’s becoming more and more important for young people to have the knowledge, skills and tools in relation their own mental health and that of others.
I’ve attached a link to our survey below and would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete – it’s only 3 questions so should literally take you minutes. I would also appreciate it if you could forward this on to anyone you know who is thinking about delivering the award.

These units are absolutely relevant right now and are needed now more than ever needed. They support open, honest dialogue and support learners to develop healthier coping strategies and self-belief. Confidence in delivery is key and a knowledge of MH supports this, however a willingness to discuss difficult subject matter and fundamentally support learners in feeling valued enough to share their thoughts and feelings is fundamental without fear that you may provoke a response. There are lots of opportunities to integrate these units into other areas within the curriculum, however the value of these units should not be diminished and their long term benefit should be heralded to support learners in managing their own MH and wellbeing and also their ability to embrace new challenges such as entering the workplace as confident employees. I believe that all learners would benefit from studying these units that make up the award.

It’s more important than ever that learners have the knowledge, understanding and tools required to manage their own mental health and wellbeing and support their peers and the award gives them the opportunity to obtain these.
