Resources and Support – blended approach to delivery

Hello,

Hope you’re all well 🙂

Given the challenges that schools, colleges and training providers face ahead of the next session we thought it would be helpful to provide some guidance and support on a blended approach to delivery.

Our Subject Implementation Manager (SIM), Shelley Buckley, has drawn on her experience as a teacher/lecturer to provide some guidance on how a blended approach to delivery could be introduced specifically for the Mental Health and Wellbeing awards. The document can be accessed via the link below.

Blended Approach Support

We understand that different centres will face different challenges in the near future and for that reason this is purely a guidance and support resource, but we hope that it could be helpful in planning for session 2021/22.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if there was any update on the SOLAR assessments? I feel these will be quite helpful when thinking about the possibility of having to adopt a blended learning approach periodically throughout the year.

Many thanks,
Gemma

Hi Gemma,

Thanks for your comment.

We have the SOLAR assessment ready for one of the level 4 units at the moment and we are working to get this live in the very near future. We are also in the process of developing the assessments for the other 2 units and these will be available in the next few months to help centres with their varied learning approaches next session.

I’ll post on the blog when the first assessment goes live and there will be an article in SQA News too.

Cheers

Hi, I’m wondering if the assessments have to be done via SOLAR? Are there other forms? Can it be assessed based on evidence gathered or does there have to be a full assessment completed to achieve the units?

Any help would be great!

Many Thanks

Hi Kayleigh,

Thanks for your comment.

The SOLAR assessments don’t have to be used, these have just been produced as a resource and it’s your choice whether you use these or not. We always encourage centre’s to be as creative as they like when gathering evidence and in a way best suits the candidates and method of delivery etc.

There are some other posts on the blog which show examples of some other evidence gathering techniques used by other centres which you mind find helpful. We’re also looking to have an Understanding Standards event at the beginning of next year which will provide further support and advice on evidence gathering, so keep an eye out for further information on that.

Cheers
