Sector Panel meeting

The Sector Panel for Computing had its annual meeting yesterday at the Doubletree Hotel in Glasgow. The purpose of the panel is to provide strategic advice and guidance to the team to ensure that the qualification portfolio meets the needs of educators and employers. The membership of the panel reflects that objective with people from schools, colleges, universities, businesses and national organisations serving on the committee.

It was a good meeting. We discussed a wide range of topics — including our recent developments such as NPA Data Science and the new support materials for NPA Cyber Security. My main take-away from the meeting was that we’re pretty much doing the right thing to focus on emerging areas such as cyber security, data science and machine learning.

Although the committee only meets once per year, we keep in touch between meetings with a private mailing list. We’re always looking for people to serve on the panel so please contact Emma if you’re interested in knowing more. The time commitment is quite small.
