Next Gen update
I posted an update about Next Gen HN last month. At that time, I wasn’t sure which (if any) additional Computing qualifications would be developed as part of this initiative.
I’m pleased to let you know that all of the proposed qualifications will be developed next year. This means that the following qualifications will be modernised.
- HNC Computing
- HND Data Science
- HND Computer Science
- HND Networking & Infrastructure
- HND Software Development.
Regular readers will know that we’re going to pilot HNC Computing in two centres next August. The revised HNC is complete apart from some minor edits on a small number of units. Much the same is true for HND Data Science, although more work has to be done on some of the units. The other qualifications will be developed next year. We’ve already done some of the ground work — and learned a lot from developing HNC Computing and HND Data Science.
I’ll reconvene the Qualification Development Team (QDT) in January when we will get down to work. In the meantime, please contact Amy if you want to know more about this development or volunteer to serve on the QDT.
