NC/NPA Computer Games Development meeting with Leads

Emma and I met with the two Lead Developers for the review of NC Computer Games Development and NPA Computer Games Development. One of the leads (for the NC) is an experienced college lecturer and the other (for the NPA) is an experienced school teacher. The QDT met last month and today’s meeting was to ensure that the leads were clear about their roles.

As previously noted, the NPA is not going to change structurally (at all). But we will tweak the component units and reduce the amount of assessment. The NC will change (a little) but not in any fundamental way. The biggest change (to the NC) is that the two Level 6 awards will be combined into one award so that the entire suite is simply called Computer Games Development (but centres can still follow a “creative” or “coding” route).

The QDT is busy revising existing units and writing new units, of which there will be a few (in the NC). For example, we’re producing new units entitled Emerging Technologies & Experiences and Computer Games: Mathematics.

These reviews are going well and I expect both awards to be available to centres from April 2018. Please contact Emma for more information.
