Team changes are coming! Claudia is about to commence teacher training and Emma is going on maternity leave so I’ll be looking for two new Qualifications Officers in the near future. Both positions will be maternity cover since Claudia is covering for Helen, who is currently on leave to look after her new baby. You can find out more about the jobs on the SQA vacancies web page.
The Qualifications Officer (QO) job is an interesting one. It involves working with a small team to maintain and develop a portfolio of qualifications in the Computing sector, which covers everything from programming to artificial intelligence. The core of the job is project management since QOs have to control the various developments. For example, right now we’re developing a new National Progression Award in Data Science and we recently commenced the review of a suite of HN awards.
The team is friendly and the work is flexible and important since it affects the life chances of learners in Scottish schools, colleges and training centres (and international centres). The job description provides more information about the position but you’ll get a good idea of the work that we do by looking over the team blog. Don’t worry if you’re not a computer scientist since other skills are more relevant to job. You can apply on the website.
