HND Data Science
Regular readers will know that we’re currently developing a suite of Higher National (HN) awards as part of “HN Next Gen”. One of that suite is HND Data Science. Unlike the other qualifications in this development, HND Data Science is a new qualification (the others are existing qualifications that we’re updating). We had planned to develop an HND in Data Science some time ago, but it made sense to make it one of the first new types of HN qualifications.
It’s early days in the development. But I can share a few things about how it’s shaping up. HND Data Science will be a one year qualification at SCQF Level 8. The recently developed Professional Development Awards (PDAs) in Data Science at Levels 8 and 9 will be part of it. As with all “next generation” HNs, meta-skills will feature prominently and the qualification will comprise fewer, larger units than traditional HN awards. We’ve produced a draft framework for the HND and, once we complete consultation, we’ll move onto unit writing.
The qualification will be complete early 2021 and available to centres from August (2021). Because it’s part of the “next gen” project, we’ll be looking for centres to pilot the qualification. Please contact Helen for more information about this qualification.

Data sciences has become a vast field. this has helped a lot to solve the bigger problems in a simple way. Data mining also made this field very interesting. You just have to take the reading and then computer will give you the best result of your query.
