NPA Computer Networks and Systems – Revision

Earlier this year, scoping was carried out on a number of our qualifications in order to gauge how centres felt about the awards and to inform any decision on the best way to proceed. One of the awards scoped was the National Progression Award in Computer Networks and Systems (G9J8 45). The scoping report revealed some key points, such as the fact that the structure of the award is considered to be good.

Consequently, taking into account the feedback from centres and the consultant’s recommendations, it was decided that the award requires a minor revision. We have now been given the ‘green light’ to proceed with this development, which will involve the revision of the three core units and the production of three new assessments.

It will be a relatively ‘quick’ development, as it will not require a Lead Developer and will be validated by an SQA Officer. Therefore, we aim to make the new NPA Computer Networks (it is likely that Systems will be dropped from the title) available to centres by end January 2021.

We are now looking for a writer(s) and vetter to revise the three core units:

  • Computing: Install and Maintain Hardware (F1KF 11)
  • Computing: Install and Maintain Software (F1KP 11)
  • Computing: Computer Networking Fundamentals (F1KH 11)

If you would be interested in undertaking this work or wish to find out more about this development, please do not hesitate to contact me.
