HN Business- 2019 Network Event

The HN Business Network event was held on Thursday, 28th February at Stirling Court Hotel. It was well attended, with over 30 people in attendance. Thank you to those who attended and supported another successful event. A special thanks to Gail Graham and Lynn Gellatly from Dundee and Angus College who delivered a presentation on co-coordinating and delivering Quality.

The key themes of the day were delivering Internal Assessment and the future for HN Business. Janet Strain discussed ways centres can create their own assessment instruments and the prior verification process for doing so. Iain Walker discussed the outcome of the HN Business Scoping and the potential implications for the review of HN Business.

The initial emerging themes from the scoping include – a Digital Business unit eg FinTech/Virtual business models/Social Media in place of ITAS1; a holistic ‘business’ unit, a reduction of mandatory section; and more use of academic modes in assessment.

However, nothing is concrete at this stage as the HN Business Review will be part of the HN Next Gen project which is scheduled to commence early next year.

We have received feedback from the event and we will take into consideration suggestions made for next years event.
