Yammer
I noticed, recently, that the SQA Computing network on Yammer has reached 100 members. After a slow start, this network is really beginning to take off. It was originally intended as another support channel to centres (in addition to Groupspaces) but it’s been re-purposed as a dedicated platform for qualification development. It’s well suited to this purpose, given its excellent discussion, collaboration, polling and document sharing facilities. In the last few weeks there have been high quality discussions about Graded Units and grading group awards. In addition to the main network, there are also specialist groups on unit writing and assessment, among other topics.
One of the best things about Yammer is that it keeps stuff out of your inbox (although you can interact with it using e-mail if you wish). Instead of dozens of (unstructured) e-mails flying about, Yammer threads the conversation into something more manageable – and keeps the whole thing out of your inbox.
If you are interested in curriculum development, assessment or national standards (in Computing) I would encourage you to join the network. The network is not public so you have to request membership. Anyone with a bonafide educational e-mail address will be accepted. It’s easy to request membership. Simply visit https://www.yammer.com/sqacomputing and request to join. If you need any assistance, please contact Aneta.
