Review of games qualifications
I’m pleased to announce that SQA’s portfolio of computer games qualifications will be reviewed in the coming year. The review will be sectoral, and not specific to an individual qualification. We’ll look at everything game-related that SQA offers.
SQA currently offers a range of awards relating to computer games:
- NPA Computer Games Development (SCQF Levels 4, 5 and 6)
- NC Computer Games Development (SCQF Levels 4, 5 and 6)
- HNC Computer Games Development (SCQF Level 7)
- HND Computer Games Development (SCQF Level 8).
Please note that the review will not include esports qualifications. These qualifications are popular — the NPA is SQA’s highest uptake qualification of this type. The reason that the review is sectoral is to ensure that there’s no gaps in provision so if there’s anything missing the review will identify and fill the gap.
The first stage will be to carry out some research into your satisfaction with current provision to find out what needs to be changed and updated. That research will be carried out over the next month or two. I’ll keep you posted (via this blog) about news relating to this work.
