Quality Network meeting

A Quality Network meeting was held last Wednesday to support centres that offer SVQs and CBQs in Computing. These are workplace qualifications (mostly) offered by training providers.

My team deal with three sectors: (1) schools; (2) colleges; and (3) training centres. During the last few years, training centres haven’t received the same attention as colleges and schools. So this event was overdue.

There was an excellent turnout with over 30 people in attendance and presentations from Skills Development Scotland, Tech Partnership and a leading training provider – among others. The Senior External Verifier always speaks at these events to give feedback to centres on the verification activity that has taken place since the last event.

I thought that the event went well. There were more presentations (and less “networking”) than normal but that was the result of having lots of information to impart. Hopefully, future meetings will be better balanced.

I announced the creation of a new online support group for training centres (similar to the new school and college groups). So if you deliver SVQs or CBQs and couldn’t make the event, please join the group.
