NPA Esports validation event
The validation event for NPA Esports was held last Wednesday afternoon. The purpose of validation is for people, who are independent of the development, to review the proposed qualification and ensure that it’s fit for purpose. It was a high quality panel, comprising representatives of industry (Esports Scotland), university (University of Glasgow), colleges (Dundee & Angus), schools and national organisations (Education Scotland) among others.
The outcome was that we’ve been asked to change a few things and say more about safeguarding children. We’ll be working on the conditions and recommendations over the Summer. We’re currently in the process of validating the units, which will also be done over the Summer.
I’m hoping to have the group award and the units validated before the end of August so that the qualification will be available to centres from September. This is a bit later than planned but the changes, I think, will improve the qualification.
