NPA Computing Technology

My apologies for not providing more updates on this development since the last one in late April. At that time, I wrote that the validation event was going to take place in May but that was delayed due to problems in finding a suitable date when everyone was available. The validation actually took place on 14 June.

The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed the change in title from NPA Computing to NPA Computing Technology. This change was suggested by the Qualification Development Team prior to validation and approved by the validation panel. However, the panel did ask for some changes and clarifications, which we’ve been working on over the summer. We’re currently in the process of making final revisions to the Group Award Specification (GAS) and, I hope, to resubmit this document in the near future so that the qualification can be coded and published.

The component units are validated and available now.

I had hoped to have the qualification available for the start of term but validation panels are independent from SQA and free to request whatever changes they think appropriate. I’m confident that the qualification will be coded and published soon. In the meantime, the component units are available.

Please contact Gayle if you want more information about this new qualification. A number of centres have expressed an interest in offering the award this session (session 2024/25), which is great. We’ll provide support to these centres to ensure that the qualification is introduced as smoothly as possible.
