Next Gen Phase 2 commences

The Qualification Development Team (QDT) for the second phase of Next Gen HN Computing met for the first time yesterday. Nineteen members attended the online meeting, representing colleges, universities and employers. As many of you will know,  QDTs are responsible for developing new qualifications.

The first meeting was more information-giving than qualification-developing since I had to bring members up-to-date with what we did in the first phase (HNC Computing and HND Data Science) and what we’ve got to do in the second phase (HND Computer Science, HND Networking & Infrastructure and HND Software Development). Nonetheless, there was an interesting discussion at the end of the meeting.

The first milestone in any development is to identify lead developers and I’m looking for volunteers to lead each of the three developments. Nominations are only accepted from QDT members. Once the leads are selected, the core team will be in place.

It’s not too late to get involved. I’d be particularly interested in representatives from industry and university, and someone who can represent learners (preferably a learner currently undertaking an HN Qualification). Please contact Amy if you want to volunteer or find out more about the new qualifications.

The second phase will take place during calendar year 2022 so that the qualifications are available from January 2023.
