Cyber Security Fundamentals is complete
I mentioned some time ago that we were working on a new National Unit on cyber security entitled Cyber Security Fundamentals at SCQF Level 4. We hoped to have the Unit ready for August but it was delayed. I’m pleased to let you know that the Unit is now finished and was sent for coding yesterday. You can see the final (uncoded) version of the Unit here.
The Unit was designed to be an introduction to the field of cyber security, suitable for everyone. We’ve tried to make it as interesting and relevant as possible to people’s ordinary lives. It covers a wide range of topics ranging from “cyber hygiene” (personal data security) to “cyber warfare” (cyber attacks between nations). It also covers “cyber resilience” in the workplace (how to protect businesses from cyber threats).
I hope that this new National Unit will be popular in schools and colleges. It contains knowledge and skills essential for every citizen. Police Scotland has expressed an interest in offering it to every new police officer.
The coded version of the Unit will appear on the SQA website shortly. The Unit will be added to the National Certificate in Computing with Digital Media (at SCQF Level 4). An Assessment Support Pack (ASP) will be available in January. Contact Helen for more information about this new Unit.
