Change to e-groups
I received notification, a few days ago, that GroupSpaces was changing its pricing model, and phasing out its free service. My team met today to discuss what (and how) to migrate to a new service.
We’re planning to use Yahoo Groups. So, we will create new groups on that service. But we’re taking the opportunity to review and rationalise the groups. For example, we will create one group for school teachers and one group for college lecturers, rather than lots of separate groups for various qualifications. If you’re a member of any of our groups, Aneta will write to you in the near future to let you know that the group is closing and what new groups have been created.
The team have been using online groups for almost 15 years now, starting with E-Groups (in 2002) and including Smartgroups and Groupspaces. All of the services have, eventually, closed or started charging. I hope that you chose to migrate to one of the new groups. Online groups are part of a range of online services (which include this blog and Yammer) that the team operate in order to support the delivery of SQA qualifications in centres.
Look out for a message from Aneta in the near future about the arrangements to migrate to the new groups.
