HNC Esports update
A new qualification in esports was developed last year — HNC in Esports, which follows on from NPA Esports. The validation event took place in June. We had originally planned to launch the qualification this session (session 2025/26) but no centre came forward so it will be offered from next session (session 2026/27). Although we were disappointed in that, it did give us more time to address the validation conditions, which we are currently working through.
It will also give us time to help centres prepare for the qualification if you let us know if you’re considering it for next session. If you are, please let Emma know so that we can provide pre-delivery support to you. We also plan to provide support through a dedicated Microsoft Team so that when you start delivery you will have plenty of help and advice.
Although the qualification isn’t yet validated, there’s plenty of information that we can share with you — such as the qualification framework and unit specifications. We’re also developing a different sort of Educator Guide, one that, we hope, will be more useful than previous versions, with expanded information about resources, timetabling, assessment and grading.
