First meeting of the esports team
The first meeting of the Qualification Development Team (QDT) for NPA Esports took place yesterday afternoon. There’s been lots of interest in this development since I first announced it last month.Over 20 people attended the meeting, representing schools, colleges and national organisations.
The first meeting of any QDT is a little bureaucratic because I have to explain the role of the team and the process that has to be followed to develop new qualifications. But we had interesting discussions around who the qualification will appeal to and the main aims of the qualification. There was broad agreement that the qualification has a lot of potential to engage learners as well as deliver some important educational outcomes. It was a really positive meeting with lots of enthusiasm for the new qualification.
I also outlined the timeline for development. The qualification will be developed between now and May so that it’s available to centres from August 2022. The qualification (“NPA Esports”) will be available at SCQF Levels 4, 5 and 6 (National 4, National 5 and Higher).
