Professional Development Awards in Data Science
I’m pleased to let you know that we’re about to commence the development of a new suite of Professional Development Awards (PDAs) in Data Science. The new awards will be available at SCQF Levels 7, 8 and 9.
This development follows the successful introduction of the new National Progression Awards in Data Science, which has attracted a lot of interest from schools and colleges. At the end of the development, there will be national qualifications in data science available at SCQF Levels 4-9.
We hope that these new awards will interest anyone who wants to improve their data skills — particularly people in employment who want to learn the tools and techniques of data analysis. It’s too early to predict what the awards will look like but the Level 7 qualification will be designed for beginners and the Level 9 for specialists.
The development will follow the usual process — which commences with the creation of a Qualification Development Team (QDT). So, please consider volunteering for the QDT. We’re looking for representatives of industry, business, university, college and training providers. The time commitment is relatively small (a couple of face to face meetings).
Emma is the lead officer for the development so please contact her if you want to find out more or volunteer for the QDT. We hope to have the suite of awards available by the first quarter of 2020.
