Scottish Cyber Awards
I attended the inaugural Scottish Cyber Award ceremony last night, which was held in the Waldorf Hotel in Edinburgh. SQA sponsored the Education Prize and I was there to award it.
It was an enjoyable evening, with prizes awarded to lots of Scottish companies and organisations for their outstanding achievements. The keynote speech was given by the Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Derek MacKay, who emphasised the vital important of cyber security and cyber resilience for Scotland.
I was delighted to award the Education Prize to Scott Hunter of Kyle Academy. Scott led the development of the National Progression Awards in Cyber Security and has been delivering them since 2015. He has also promoted cyber security in many other ways, including his innovative Cyber Badge scheme. He thoroughly deserved the prize.

Great to see Cyber Security getting a push. When will the SQA be providing meaningful support materials for the course?
We’re aware that these awards require more support materials and we’re currently in consultation with Scottish Government about that.
