Changes to online groups

As many of you know, the team has been using online groups, to support centres, for many years. During the recent team meeting, we discussed our use of these groups and decided to rationalise them. We decided to create three new groups:

  • one for schools
  • one for colleges
  • and one for training centres.

We presently have an inconsistent approach to the groups — some subjects (such as Cyber Security) have a dedicated group, some subjects share a group, and some subjects have no support group. The new organisation means that every subject will have some means of online support.

We will continue to use (private) groups when we are developing new awards. We’ll convert some of these groups into dedicated support groups once the qualification has been developed (for a short time at least) before closing the group and asking the members to join one of the above groups.

We will continue to run the private groups for such things as the Sector Panel and Lead Person Network. So these special interest groups will not be affected.

The new arrangements should be easier for us to manage and fairer for everyone. Look out for more news about these changes in the coming weeks. Please contact Aneta if you have any questions about our use of online groups.
