HNC Data Analytics and Computer Science update
We’re currently developing two new HNCs: one in Computer Science and one in Data Analytics. They were originally conceived as part of the University of Strathclyde’s Digital Academy initiative, which involves the University and three Glasgow colleges. At a meeting, held earlier this week in the SQA offices, it was agreed to add options to the existing HNC Computing for articulation, meaning that the HNC Computer Science can be developed without this requirement.
We agreed to devise the new HNC Computer Science in tandem with a review of the existing HND Computer Science. This makes a lot of sense. The HNC Data Analytics will proceed as normal and will articulate with Strathclyde’s degree of the same name – although it will be a worthwhile qualification in its own right.
We’re hoping to have the HNC Data Analytics validated, and available to centres, by September. The HNC/D Computer Science development will commence in August. Please contact Helen if you want to know more about either project or wish to join the Qualification Development Team for Computer Science.
