HNC/D Information Technology review
The Qualification Development Team (QDT) for HNC/D Information Technology met this morning for its first meeting. This qualification was first introduced in 2006/7 and we’ve been considering the options for change for some time. There are representatives of college and university on the committee.
It was a productive meeting. We discussed the title of the revised award, the themes and topics within it, and the tasks (and timescales) that we have to carry out.
There was unanimity that the award requires significant change. We agreed a new working title for the qualification: HNC/D Technologies in Business. We also agreed on a number of topics that should be included such as business intelligence, data analytics, databases, statistics and team working skills.
The next stage is to appoint a Lead Developer. I asked for volunteers. Once we have one, we can progress to writing the aims and objectives and creating a draft award framework. We hope to have the revised qualification available from August 2016.
