The end date for SVQ in Insurance (SCQF level 8) has been extended, following approval by SQA Accreditation. Please note the following details – end accreditation date: 31 Jan 2028, end certification date 31 Jan 2032. There are no changes to the content of the qualification. The following SVQs have been withdrawn – SVQ in Providing Financial Services (SCQF Level 5) and SVQ in Providing Financial Services (SCQF Level 6) due to low uptake. Certificate for Customer Service in the Financial Services Sector (SCQF level 6) continues to be the core qualification for the Modern Apprenticeship for the Financial Services sector.

Following HMRC’s decision to make Cash-Basis Accounting the default method for self-employed traders and partners, SQA has made a change to the HN Unit Business Taxation J0LY 35 to bring it into line. Consequently, the treatment of Capital Allowances has been moved from Outcome 1 (Sole Traders) to Outcome 3 (Corporation Tax). Happy New Year! NextGen HNC and HND Accounting were both successfully validated on 30 October 2024. Although these qualifications will continue to be piloted, the validation is a key milestone in their development. The qualifications were well received in the meeting and recognised as a big step forward for the subject area and our learners.
