Welcome back and looking forward
SQA returned from holiday today. I’m delighted to let you know that Emma has returned from maternity leave so the team is “back to normal”. Emma is now a permanent member of the team. She was originally covering Hilary’s (Weir) secondment as Digital Literacy Manager but Hilary and Emma have now been consolidated in their respective posts.
We also have Hilary (Cuthbertson) in the team to help (Hilary is part time with me), and one of my first tasks for 2017 is to agree who does what. At this time, Emma takes care of non-advanced awards, Hilary SVQ/CBQs, and Helen advanced awards. That may (or may not) be the way it stays but I’ll say more about that in a future post.
It’s a relief to get back to (more than) full strength. But we have lots to do in the coming year. I posted something just before Christmas about what we did last year, and this year looks like being busier. There is a raft of non-advanced qualifications that need to be updated (including the NPAs in Computer Games Development), the new HNC Data Analytics has to be finalised, and we must commence the review of HNC/D Computer Science. I’ve also been asked to look at mathematics across my portfolio.
So, lots to do but it’s all exciting stuff. We’re always looking for people to help so don’t be shy about volunteering when the opportunities arise (watch this blog).
