HND Computer Science development

We recently “scoped” HND Computer Science to determine what (if anything) needs to be changed. The consultant (a retired university teacher) made several recommendations, which I summarised in this post.

We are now progressing to development. The qualification will be reviewed between now and Christmas, with the goal of having the revised award validated (late) this year and available to centres by (early) next year. This means that the revised award will be offered by centres from August 2018.

HND Computer Science has been popular since it was introduced in 2012 but the contents of the award have been an issue since its inception, with lots of comments about the curriculum not matching the title. So it will be a priority to remedy that.

The first step in any development is to create a Qualifications Development Team (QDT) and Helen is actively doing that right now. So please contact Helen if you are interested in serving in the QDT.
