Results Day can be a real rollercoaster of emotions!
You might be excited, nervous, buzzing with anticipation or maybe feeling a bit unsure about what’s next.
However you’re feeling, remember that you’re not alone. Across Scotland, tens of thousands of other young people are going through it too – and there’s plenty of support out there.
Look After Your Emotional Wellbeing
Waiting for Results Day or finding out how you did can feel overwhelming. It’s totally normal to feel anxious, but try not to let negative thoughts take over.
Our Young Scot #AyeFeel campaign has loads of tips and information to help you take care of your emotional wellbeing, including:
- Ways to cope with stress and anxiety
- Advice to help you get a better night’s sleep
- Support with managing feelings of uncertainty or disappointment
- Info on where to get extra support if you need it

Plan Your Next Steps
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, talking to someone you trust can help. This could be a family member, a friend, a teacher or a local careers adviser.
The Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Results Helpline is open from 8am on Results Day. You can call them free on 0808 100 8000 for advice.
SDS’ careers advisers can chat to you about loads of options, including:
- UCAS Clearing and course vacancies
- College and university places
- Apprenticeships, jobs and training opportunities

Celebrate Your Achievements
Whatever your results, getting through exam season is a huge achievement. You should feel really proud, so make sure you take time to celebrate! Here are a few ideas:
- Host a games or movie night with your friends
- Bake or cook your favourite treats
- Get outside for some fresh air and a change of scene
- Dust off your favourite childhood board games or films for some nostalgic fun
Remember – There’s #NoWrongPath
Everyone’s journey is different. Your path might not look the same as someone else’s and that’s totally OK. There are loads of ways to reach your goals, and sometimes the unexpected routes turn out to be the best ones.
Explore what feels right for you, take your time and remember – you’re not on your own.
