Validation event for HNC/D Interactive Media

The validation event for the revised HNC/D Interactive Media took place yesterday afternoon in central Glasgow. The purpose of validations is to review a new or updated qualification to ensure that the qualification meets its aims. The validation panel included representatives of colleges, universities and employers, none of whom had been involved in developing the qualification. A subset of the Qualification Development Team (QDT) answered the questions.

Yesterday’s validation event went well. It’s great to see these events in action, with both sides sharing the aim of improving the award. The panel made a few conditions and recommendations that the QDT will take forward over the coming weeks. One of them related to titles. The new awards will be called:

  • HNC Digital Design & Web Development
  • HND Web Development
  • HND Digital Design & Development

Everyone agreed that these qualifications are needed. The contents have been significantly updated to reflect the knowledge and skills that are needed in the contemporary workplace. There is a huge demand for people with these skills, particularly web development where there are serious skill shortages.

We’re aiming to have the awards available to centres from 1 August. Please contact Helen for more information about the existing or new awards.
