QDT meeting for Next Generation Higher Nationals

The Qualification Development Team (QDT) for Computing met last week (Thursday) to discuss progress and update members about changes. It was well attended with 22 members logging into the Teams meeting.

I informed members about the changes made since we last met. These are:

  1. removal of “legacy” (current) units from qualifications
  2. removal of PDAs from the awards
  3. revision of the grading model.

The updated frameworks for HNC Computing and HND Data Science can be found here.

I also discussed the phasing of the development (previously discussed here). It was a positive meeting that, I hope, people found helpful. We’re currently looking for centres to volunteer to pilot the qualifications, which are:

  1. HNC Computing
  2. HND Computer Science
  3. HND Data Science
  4. HND Networking & Infrastructure
  5. HND Software Development.

The process for applying to get involved in the pilots can be found here. The deadline for applying is noon, Friday (24 September). The were no volunteers last year (due to the circumstances that existed at that time) but there appears to be a lot more interest this year. Please contact Helen if you want to know more about this development.
