PDA Data Science update
As regular readers will know, we’re currently developing a new suite of qualifications in data science. The Professional Development Awards in Data Science will be available at SCQF Levels 7, 8 and 9.
The Level 7 award is for everyone or, at least, everyone who works with data. This qualification will provide data analysis skills for people who don’t want to become data scientists but need to know how to handle large datasets and make business decisions based on that data. The Level 9 award is for people who want to specialise in data work (“data professionals”) and is heavy on data engineering and machine learning. The Level 8 award is in-between and can be used by data workers, who want to improve their data skills by learning about data programming, and data professionals, who want a gentle introduction to the discipline.
The development team is busy working on the component units, which include new units called “Working with Data”, “Communicating with Data”, “Programming with Data” and “Data Engineering”. We’re also planning for the validation event, which will take place on 25 June. A validation panel has been selected, which will be convened by a representative of the University of Edinburgh.

What is the relationship between this award and the Data Analytics GL30 48 MA? You seem to be aiming both of these awards at people in work and working with data.
