HNC/D Interactive Media is validated
I’m delighted to tell you that the revised HNC/D Interactive Media is now validated. The conditions, which were imposed at the recent validation event, have now been lifted and the revised awards are now approved (as of yesterday). The revised qualifications have new titles, which are:
- HNC Digital Design & Web Development (which replaces HNC Interactive Media)
- HND Digital Design & Development (which replaces HND Interactive Media)
- HND Web Development (which replaces HND Interactive Media).
As you can see, there are now two HNDs where there was one. This is to allow learners to specialise in either web development or digital design, which reflects the job market.
A huge amount of work has went into these updated qualifications. The revised qualifications are a big update on what was there before. The qualifications have been refreshed from top to bottom. There are lots of new units including User Interface Design, Digital Graphics, Digital Media, Emerging Technologies & Experiences and Website Optimisation. Most of the component units are available on the SQA website now. The new qualifications contain the latest technologies and techniques used in these fields, and thoroughly prepare learners for employment or further studies.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Qualification Development Team (QDT) for all the work that they have put into creating these awards, and particularly the Lead Developer, who works for a Scottish college. The development has taken longer than I planned but, I think, the resulting qualifications are excellent.
We’re in the process of coding the new qualifications and creating a subject page. A FAQ will also be produced. In the meantime, you can access the Group Award Specification here. Please contact Helen if you want more information about any of these awards.
