HNC Cyber Security update
It’s been a while since we updated you about the new cyber security qualifications. As many of you will know, we’re developing a suite of new qualifications over the next three years: HNC Cyber Security, HND Cyber Security and PDA Cyber Security.
We’re currently working on the HNC qualification. It’s coming along well. The Qualification Development Team (and some others) is busy with writing the units that will make up the award. We’re developing a large number of new units such as Data Security, Digital Forensics, Professionalism & Ethics in Cyber Security, Social Engineering and Scripting for Security. You can see a draft version of the qualification structure here.
We hope to have the units finished by early April, the qualification validated in June and available to centres in August. Then we’ll turn our attention to the HND, which we plan to have complete by Spring 2019. We will develop the PDAs (at SCQF Levels 7, 8, 9) in parallel with the HND. We hope to have the complete development finished by late 2019.
