HNC Computer Science and HNC Data Analytics
I recently announced a new development, which involves the creation of two new HNCs:
- 1. HNC Computer Science
- 2. HNC Data Analytics
Since then, a Qualification Development Team (QDT) has been created and the first meeting was held this afternoon. The Team consists of representatives of colleges, universities and industry.
The University of Strathclyde is represented on the QDT since the new HNCs will be designed to articulate with a number of their B.Sc. courses, through their Digital Academy programme, including the existing B.Sc. Computer Science and a new B.Sc. Data Analytics, providing direct entry into year two of those degrees. But the awards are national qualifications so they will have value in their own right and, I hope, appeal to colleges across Scotland.
We’re at an early stage in the development. We spent most of today discussing options and possible contents. The next stages will be selecting a Lead Developer from one of the QDT members and writing the aims of the new awards.
