HNC Computer Science and HNC Data Analytics

This development commenced in August and since then we’ve made good progress. I met with the Lead Developer (Denise Doyle of Glasgow City College) yesterday afternoon to discuss recent progress.

The prime aim of the development is to create two awards that articulate with the University of Strathclyde’s Digital Academy but they will be national qualifications and, therefore, must serve a wider audience. So they are being developed in the normal way — with a Qualification Development Team (QDT) and a Lead Developer. We will consult widely to ensure that the qualifications meet the needs of the entire Scottish community.

Denise is working on the Group Award Specification and a number of draft Units have been written. But there’s still a lot of work to do. We’re going to arrange another meeting of the QDT next month to review progress and decide when these new awards will be ready for centres. We hope that they will be available by June but that will be subject to progress and staffing.

In the meantime, you can contact Helen to find out more.
