Centre for Computer Science Education

I attended the opening of Scotland’s first Centre for Computer Science Education (CCSE) on Friday afternoon, held at the University of Glasgow. The new Centre is a collaboration between the School of Computing Science and the School of Education at the university.

The aim of the centre is to improve the quality of computer science education at every level – including schools, colleges and universities. But another, equally important goal, is to make computer science a “foundational subject”, like literacy and numeracy.

The Centre was formally opened by the Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science and there appeared to be a great deal of enthusiasm for, and goodwill towards, the venture.
