Exciting news to share – the SQA Digital Literacy Team have been shortlisted for two major awards for our Digital Learner Guides. We have been shortlisted in the Citizen Award category for The Holyrood ICT Connect Awards 2016; winners will be announced at the Awards event following the ICT Connect conference on 22 June, both events being held at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh. Digital Xtra fund open for applications

Coding, computing, web development and digital animation are just some of the activities that could benefit from Digital Xtra, a new fund dedicated to widening access to extracurricular computing related projects in Scotland. Skills Development Scotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, ScotlandIS and Education Scotland have developed the £250,000 fund in partnership as part of a programme of activity dedicated to developing skills and making extracurricular computing clubs accessible to all young people aged 16 and under, wherever they live in…

Learner Guides – the numbers….

Now that the digital learner guides have been ‘out there’ for over a month, I thought it might be interesting to publish some statistics for how they’ve been accessed/used over that time period. In total, the Learner Guides web page has had 4029 ‘hits’ since the official launch took place on 30th March 2016. All of the guides have been accessed multiple times, the most popular guide being Getting Online, the guide that introduces a learner to the keyboard, mouse…

Training opportunity for NQ Computing Science courses at Higher and Advanced Higher levels
