New HNCs

A few months ago, I was approached by the University of Strathclyde and a group of colleges to ask if SQA would develop qualifications for the Digital Academy. I am delighted to let you know that I have been given approval to proceed with this development.

This development will produce two new HNCs:

  1. 1. HNC Computer Science
  2. 2. HNC Data Analytics.

These qualifications will articulate with the University’s existing degree in Computer Science and new degree in Data Analytics (2016). The HNCs will do more than articulate with Strathclyde. They should be attractive to a wide range of learners. The new awards will compliment the existing HNC in Computing.

I will be working closely with Clyde College, City of Glasgow College, Kelvin College and Ayrshire College during this project. Each of these colleges will be represented on the QDT but we’re looking for other members so please contact Caroline if you would like to be involved.

I’m delighted to be involved in two prestigious national developments relating to digital skills. SQA is providing the qualifications for the new Digital Skills Academy and now we are producing the qualifications for the Digital Academy.

The new HNCs will be available from June 2016. Please contact Caroline for further information.
