HNC/D Computer Games Development

The first meeting of the Qualification Development Team (QDT) for HNC/D Computer Games Development met this afternoon. The QDT is responsible for revising and validating the qualification. Members normally include representatives of colleges, universities, employers and special interest groups. Colleges are well represented but we could do with more employer and university representation.

The HNC award was originally devised by Stow College in 2005 and became a national award in 2007. We introduced the HND in 2010. So it’s due a review.

Gillian Flockhart (of Dundee and Angus College) scoped the development last year, and she was asked, and accepted, to carry out the role of Lead Developer for this project.

We spent a lot of the meeting discussing the changes needed to the existing award, particularly the role of Mathematics within the award. Gillian will now create a draft qualification structure.

I hope to have the updated qualification available to centres from August 2016. Contact Caroline about the development, including how you can get involved, or contact Gill for more information about the qualification.
