Foundation Apprenticeships in Computing

The Scottish Government is expanding the Apprenticeship programmes, with a particular focus on Foundation Apprenticeships. Foundation Apprenticeships (FAs) are done in the senior phase in schools (S5 and S6) and give learners the opportunity to undertake vocational training and learning in a specific sector.

There are a growing number of FA including three computing-related ones. These are:

Each of these Apprenticeships provide learners with qualifications and work experience, with the prospect of going onto employment, further training or university. And each one includes recognised national qualifications (normally, a National Progression Award in a related subject area).

Foundation Apprenticeships are managed by Skills Development Scotland. SQA’s role relates to the associated qualifications. You can find out more about FAs by contacting Colin Buchanan (SDS) or contact Emma (SQA) for more information about the related awards.
